Dr. John Althoff
SPECIAL SERVICES DIRECTOR
Ascent Classical Academy is pleased to welcome Dr. John Althoff as our new Special Services Director, a role that supports our mission to serve the whole student with care, clarity, and excellence.
Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Dr. Althoff brings extensive experience in education, including roles in curriculum development, instructional leadership, and special education. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies and Business Education with a minor in Computer Science, a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Leadership, a Doctor of Education (EdD) in the same field, and a Graduate Certificate in Special Education.
He was drawn to classical education for its structure, purpose, and pursuit of excellence.
“Classical education prioritizes the hard work needed to help our scholars excel in education for their future.”
Dr. Althoff is also an avid outdoorsman. Outside of school, he enjoys running, boating, hunting, fishing, and cycling. His favorite book is Fahrenheit 451, a classic that speaks to the power of thought, freedom, and integrity in the face of adversity.
As the school year begins, Dr. Althoff is eager to meet the students and families he will serve, and to help ensure every scholar receives the support they need to grow and thrive.
We are delighted to welcome him to the Ascent community.
