As we prepare for the new school year, we are pleased to welcome back Mr. Brian Jones, who is returning for his second year as a Physical Education Teacher at Ascent Classical Academy.
Mr. Jones is originally from Clover, South Carolina, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Winthrop University. He brings experience, structure, and thoughtful leadership to his work with students.
His enthusiasm for classical education stems from its emphasis on teaching students how to think, not what to think. He shares: “In this day and age, knowing how to think critically is imperative.”
Outside of the classroom, Mr. Jones enjoys reading, writing, hiking, and spending quality time with his wife, two daughters, and newborn son.
Among his favorite authors is Napoleon Hill, whose book Think and Grow Rich has shaped Mr. Jones’s understanding of mindset and motivation. He also holds a deep appreciation for Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, which he admires for its reflections on self-discipline and rational thinking.
Mr. Jones grew up on an Air Force Base in South Dakota and brings a diverse perspective to his work with students. As he looks ahead to the new school year, he shares, “I am looking forward to seeing the familiar faces as well as the new students. It’s going to be a great year!”
