Mr. Mitchell Thomas Andre
UPPER SCHOOL LITERATURE TEACHER
A native of Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania, and a current resident of Bellefonte, Mr. Andre joins our school with a rich academic and professional background. He earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Philosophy and Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies from Penn State University, graduating magna cum laude with a 3.94 GPA. While at Penn State, he also served as a teaching assistant, demonstrating both academic excellence and a dedication to mentorship.
Before joining us, Mr. Andre worked as a substitute teacher and spent the last three years employed in the corrections system in Pennsylvania. These experiences have shaped his thoughtful, disciplined, and human-centered approach to teaching.
Mr. Andre is deeply committed to classical education. He writes, “I believe that all true education is the education of the human being about life, preparing us to make good decisions and be good people. This is the essence of education as classically conceived, and this end is furthered by formal education in the Western intellectual and literary tradition.”
In his free time, Mr. Andre enjoys reading, taking long walks, and exercising. His favorite book is Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, a reflection of his philosophical orientation and commitment to self-discipline, virtue, and reflection.
We are thrilled to have Mr. Andre join our community and look forward to the wisdom and passion he will bring to our students and classrooms.
